KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A new report shows Kansas City homes are some of the fastest-selling in the country.

Zillow, a real-estate marketplace company, said homes in the Kansas City metro sold in an average of four days. The company said that is the fastest pace in the country right now. According to data, Zillow said the average time it takes to sell a house in the U.S. is closer to two weeks.

While new listings are increasing, Zillow said inventory levels remain much lower than before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The lower inventory means home prices remain high. Zillow reports that nearly 33% of homes for sale in the Kansas City metro sold over asking price in February.

Zillow also said the value of a typical house in the Kansas City metro is worth just over $300,000. That is up more than 5% over last year. It also increased more than 1% from February to March of this year.

Despite the price increases, Zillow said homes in the Kansas City area remain relatively affordable. They also remain below the national average. Zillow said that because of the affordability, it listed Kansas City as one of the best markets for first-time buyers this year.
